The facility was still a kilometer away as Carlos ran at a constant flat out pace which a result of his intensive was training compliments of the CIA. Outside was pitch black and the wind was blowing Northeast at about 2km/h. The stealth suit offered some form of heat insulation as Carlos ran hard through the botanical gardens. Running through the thick bush and dodging the vines he was at his most vicious. Senses and reflexes worked like a katana with knife-edged precision, taking in every aspect of his surroundings laying in wait to disable any ‘predators’ other than himself.
It took 15 minutes to reach the compound wall which had electrified wiring running straight across it. Intel had been wrong again but Echo a.k.a Carlos was never one to fully rely on Intel as it changed rapidly once you actually encounter the task. Carlos excelled at improvising his tactics on the fly which was compliments of being a team leader in hairy situations.
“f**k!” was all Carlos said as he thought of another way in.
At that point luck was on his side as the lights beamed down the access path to the main entrance. Carlos stuck to the wall before he was discovered though that was quite hard given the extreme darkness which enveloped where he was. Just then lights from the opposite directions streamed upwards towards the facility. Immediately he knew this was his ticket inside. The lights, sound of the engine and screeching of the tires suggested it was a vehicle specifically a large one. Carlos knew he needed to create a window of opportunity if he wanted to get inside.
With that he rushed towards the bushes and crawled as fast as he could towards the road. The vehicle was fast approaching and Carlos crawled even faster to the point where his heart was beating above normal. As he reached the road the truck had just past and all he could was getup and begin to run behind it. He barely made it when it stopped to await the opening of the entrance. He slowly ducked under the back of the truck passing the exhaust pipe and clinging unto the underbody, securing his passage in. Once inside he heard a hive of activity which meant the full on confrontation was bad but in most cases they were given his mission.
As the truck reversed in a secluded parking area before returning to be inspected, Carlos dropped from the underbody. As it moved away he lay still for 10 seconds before jumping to his feet and backing away into the darkness. From his visually observation he was near the far most building which was used for storage. The research facility was near the middle of the compound and was guarded by 10 armed guards, some with dogs plus lights. Security cameras where also present which monitored the entrance only plus 3 extras guard; two on the inside with one guarding the door. Carlos knew he needed a diversion and fast and storage depot was indeed that. Planting some C-7 on the wall Carlos backed away and as if driven by some divine power headed towards the transformers of the facility planting doing the same.
The first explosion rocked the facility as the lights and guards rushed towards the area without haste. Carlos rushed across the yard detonating the second explosive simultaneously killing all power for about 40 seconds before the generator cut in. Carlos took 15 sacs to make to research steps. Rushing up the steps alerted the guard but it was too late, as Carlos delivered a low sweeping kick to his feet off balancing him. This was followed up punch to his left kidney. The guard pushed Echo back and attempted to balance himself drawing his side-arm in the process as he lost his sub-machine in the prior assault. This too was futile as Carlos martial skills were deadly and he was the most feared grappler in his unit. He grabbed the gun arm placing it in a reverse lock whilst kicking the guard in the back of the heel, following this by ripping out the jugular with his free arm.
Echo rushed inside and ran down the hall only to be met with lights returning as the generator kicked in. “Shit, I must be getting old” he thought to himself as that entire process took 40 seconds. From around the corner Carlos heard the two voices meaning that the package was close. The guards where backing him and from the looks of it were only carrying taser like batons. Carlos reached for specially crafted carbon fiber combat knife, which knew death all too well. Dashing from behind the wall Carlos sprinted towards the two guards who seemed to be trying to contact their outside counterpart. Most outer guard caught Carlos’ movement which resulted in him uttering intruder before the knife impaled his head from a well timed throw. To Carlos’ surprise the other guard turned drawing a 9mm Desert Eagle Glock, causing him to break his momentum mid stride and sliding towards his aggressor. He scissor locked the guard’s legs causing him to fall backwards before springing upwards to land square on the guard’s chest. At that point he delivered 2 solid punches to his throat and nose.
Carlos rushed to his feet and headed directly to the coded doors which were the only entrance into the research room. Intel reported that a possible code was Chaos45 but this seemed ineffective probably due to the electrical fault locking down the room. Looking at his watch Carlos knew his pickup would be at the location in 10 minutes, meaning he needed to quicken the pace. C-7 was his only option meaning the other guards would be on his location in 3 minutes. Carlos safely ducked behind the corridor and blasted inwards. Rushing into the lab he scanned for the containment door which was to the far right of the room. He immediately opened it and found the package waiting no time in placing it in the combat backpack.
As he exited he dropped the remainder of the C-7 and sprinted through the door jumping over the hand railing and ducking behind the staircase. As the other guards rushed inward the corresponding explosion pushed them backwards, buying Echo enough time to rush towards the exit of the facility. The dogs gave away his stealthy exit and alerted those guards still alive resulting in a hail of gunfire. Carlo weaved through the hail of bullets as though he was accustomed. Luckily the truck was unmanned allowing Carlos to jump straight in however not before he was clipped cleanly with a sub machine round. The truck smashed through the gates suffering severe damage, alerting Carlos that it’ll break down sooner rather than later. Half way down the dirt road, Carlos bailed and left in running until it swerved into a ditch. Carlos then did what he knew best at this point run like his life depended on it. Though the bullet wound hurt like hell it was not enough to deter his progress. Adrenalin allowed Carlos to make the pickup point in less than 10 minutes resulting in him dropping low on the ground. This was to more catch his breath but to also build up enough incase he had to proceed to the secondary drop point.
Curiosity was seldom in Carlos’ persona but recently he wanted know what he was risking his life for. Echo slowly opened the backpack and took out the sealed metal box which let off an eerie feeling. As he opened it all he saw why this sparkling fragment which disappointed him.
“Are they serious, I risked my life for rock? This has better cure cancer!” screamed Carlos and he fell back. The helicopter’s engine could be heard now coming from the distance giving Carlos a since of relief. Suddenly he felt a rumbling and jumped up to see if anyone was close by possibly from the just infiltrated facility. That thought would be last as the ground now turned into a mouth, “fish-like” to be précised swallowing him alive.
